Archival Resource Center

The materials in the Venango County Historical Society Archival Resource Center are available for research by the public by appointment only.  There is a $5.00 research fee for archival materials; fees for Will, Estate and Naturalization Files are $10.00 per file.  All fees include photocopying up to ten pages; beyond ten pages, fees are $.50 per page.  

 

No fees are charged to students using our facilities for research.

Major Archival Collections

Egbert - Bredin Collection ~ This extensive collection consists of records from the family of Dr. Albert G. Egbert, including family and genealogical records, diaries, letters, photographs and personal papers that span more than 200 years.

 

War (Military) Collection ~ The records in this collection cover the involvement of Venango County and its citizens in all major wars.

 

Raymond Collection ~ Records of the Raymond Brothers' general store, oil interests and iron ore and smithing businesses in Utica and Raymilton, PA, provide an excellent look at life in Venango County from 1833 - 1900.

 

Venango County Clubs and Organizations Collection ~ This collection includes records, membership lists, yearbooks, newsletters, photographs and personal papers of social and business organizations from all areas of Venango County.

 

School Collection ~ Included in this massive collection are school records, photographs (most identified), yearbooks, school souvenirs and teacher's reports from many Venango County schools.

 

Business and Industry Collection ~ Included here are ledgers, busines and legal records, receipts and other documents from Venango County businesses.

About VCHS

The Venango County Historical Society is housed in the Egbert-Mullins-Koos House in Franklin, Pennsylvania. The home was built in 1859 and serves as both the Society's home and exhibit space, a research library, collections storage space, and archival storage.

 

We serve the Venango County community by preserving the history important to all of us.

Both programs are free and open to the public

The talk will be upstairs on the 3rd floor ballroom.

The ballroom is fully handicapped accessible.

 

The second program will be at the Titusville Historical Society, Titusville, PA

Feb. 24 at 6 p.m.

Silent Movie Night

A joint program with

DeBence Antique Music World

Feb. 22 at 7 p.m.

Buster Keaton's The Navigator with live music by the Pittsburgh Film Orchestra.

The movie will be upstairs on the 3rd floor ballroom.

The ballroom is fully handicapped accessible.  Free and open to the public.

MayFest Yard Sale:

 

We are always looking for gentle used items for our May yard sale during the Franklin MayFest. So, stop in during office hours, or you can even leave them on the front porch by the door.

AppleFest Book Sale:

We are always looking for more books for our Booksale fund raiser during Applefest. So, stop in during office hours, or you can even leave them on the front porch by the door.
